What to check
STEP 1
Power off charger. Inspect socket contacts for burn marks, discolouration, or arcing damage. Clean contacts if dirty. Check cable rating matches charger output
STEP 2
Check the EV cable connector at both ends for damage. Replace cable if damaged. Tighten socket terminal screws if accessible
Escalate if
Burn marks on socket — socket must be replaced before further use. Escalate if socket replacement does not resolve or if charger enclosure shows heat damage
